Rolled up @ Orisue Warehouse Sale around 1AM. A good group of people were already camped out there, maybe 30, idk, people in tents and shit w/ fires & alot of them were pretty fucked up or blazing it, pretty funny. Heard some guy camped out @ 4PM or something; pretty fucking crazy. No more than 10 minutes from when we get there, Wally from Orisue rolls in w/ bags of Jack in the Box chicken sandwiches, tacos, curly fries, Sunkist, & Coke. Damn Orisue knows how to treat their fam well! lol. Wally thanked us for being so dedicated & supporting Orisue & shit and gave us his black business card, which was basically a fast pass for camping out so early, to prevent cutting and made sure we got into the warehouse first. We took a group pic of all the campers, which was posted on the Orisue blog, but only my feet can be seen. :'[

Camping out was a bitch! Never been so cold in my life since tryouts and no place to sit and sleep besides the one fold up chair Big Jon brought. :P. Just talked, joked around, and played w/ Jon’s Iphone for a couple of hours. Nick told us the story about how he had to sneak out of his house and almost got caught jumping off the 2nd story balcony and shit to attend the sale tonight; sounded just like Prisonbreak. LOL. Around 3AM, Jon & I walked to Jack in the Box to get some grub. Only drive thru was open and they wouldn’t let us buy anything w/o a car; they wouldn’t even open the window to talk to us. -_-". lol. Walked back to Jack in the Box & waited for the doors to open @ 6AM. hahaha. So delicious. Got back and a grip load of hipsters just started to cut into the front of the line. Pretty ridiculous. Around 9AM, Wally came out w/ donuts and coffee for all; Orisue is hands down the fucking best! hahaha. Wally forced the crowd into a single line as best as possible and enforced the black card first come first serve basis, sent all those fucking cutters packing back in line. LOL. The line was crazy long, stretched multiple buildings & you couldn’t even see the end of it through all the domeskies. Wally took another pic of the line and this time I’m clearly visible on the Orisue blog. ;D. hahaha. Was about the 3rd group to get into the warehouse; which was pretty sick. Fucking came up on a lot of shit! 😀 Two hours later we leave the warehouse. haha. Spent $150 total: 1 cardigan ($10), 2 fitted hats ($10 each), 1 board short ($15), 2 tank tops ($5 each), 2 tee’s ($10 each), & 3 jeans ($25 each); plus I donated an extra $5 to Haiti relief b/c proceeds from the sale go to Haiti relief.

Dropped everyone off @ home after & went to eat lunch w/ my mom & sis @ Garden Cafe. Picked up my grandma & went to Rose Hills to visit my grandpa. Went home after Dennis came over to pick up the once in a lifetime, one of a kind, Orisue Annual Warehouse Sale only, sample denim I got for him. hahaha. He brought a sample of an upcoming Dramamine tee for me to help him scope out. Pretty legit; can’t wait to cop. ;D. haha. Sick & tired @ home rest of the night.

Datsun-Range-1975

Datsun-Range-1975
From top left corner: 100A Cherry 3-dr Hatch; 120Y Sunny Estate; 120Y Sunny Coupe; 100A Cherry Coupe
Bottom row from left: 120Y Sunny Sedan; 160B Bluebird Sedan; 100A 3-dr Estate; 140J Violet Sedan
The Violet was also available in some markets with a 1600cc engine, known as the 160J, while the Bluebird was also sold with an 1800cc engine as the 180B.

The Sunny sold against Toyota’s Corolla and the Violet against the Carina, while the Bluebird lined up against Toyota’s Corona. While the Corolla – most would eventually rust into oblivion – was the better buy at the time, Datsun had the edge in the other two camps. Better still than both Datsun and Toyota small offerings was the Honda Civic EB2.

At the time BL was selling the pitiful (even in TC coupe guise) Marina and the ugly Allegro, while Vauxhall’s recently-introduced Chevette and all-new Cavalier struggled to meet the Japanese build standards and equipment levels. Ford Cortinas were still happily flying out the door in fleet sales, though their ‘new’ Mk II Escort was little more than a rebody on a 1967 design. As for Hillman, the less said the better as even in the sixties the Hunter was outdated while the Avenger, though not a bad car, was sadly lacking in value against the oriental opposition.
